“The Like button lets a user share your content with friends on Facebook. When the user clicks the Like button on your site, a story appears in the user’s friends’ News Feed with a link back to your website” Facebook.
On this website I have used the Facebook Like button to allow the Facebook users to help share and promote my Facebook Page that I have created for this website. You can either do the same or if you haven’t got a Facebook Page you can just allow users to “Like” your website or anything with a direct URL.
Creating your very own Like button can be done in less than 5 minuets, just follow the tutorial.
Step 1
Navigate to the Facebook Developers plugin page for the “Like” button
http://developers.facebook.com/docs/reference/plugins/like
Step 2
Enter the desired URL of the content/webpage that you wish your visitors to share on Facebook. e.g www.craigmroberts.com
Step 3
Customize the layout and design as you would like it to be when it is placed on your webpage. Note that whilst you alter the settings a preview of what it will look like will be displayed.
Step 4
Lastly, when you are happy with the settings just click the “Get Code” button which will generate the code to be inserted within the webpage. Copy and paste this code wherever you wish the plugin to be displayed.
And that is it! Please leave any suggestions, tips/tricks that you may have below.
